Dallas, TX – (MARCH 2012) – An impressive collection by artist legend, Peter Max’s exquisite paintings will be on exhibition and available for acquisition at Wisby-Smith Fine Art at the Crescent in Dallas. Exhibit previews begin on May 25, 2012 and the exhibition extends through June 3rd. Peter Max will be making two very special Artist appearances at Wisby-Smith on Saturday June 2 and Sunday June 3rd, 2012

This extraordinary exhibit coincides with the announcement that Peter Max has been chosen by Norwegian Cruise Lines to paint the hull of its new luxury cruise liner Breakaway in the iconic “Peter Max” style. This honor is yet another compliment to the legend that is Peter Max, the artist who painted a Continental Boeing 777 Jumbo Jet, a 600 foot stage for Woodstock Music Festival, and a giant mural for the 2002 Winter Olympics.

With paintings on exhibition in hundreds of museums and galleries worldwide, Peter Max and his vibrant colors have become part of the fabric of contemporary culture. Max has been successively called a Pop Icon, Neo Fauvist, Abstract Expressionist and the United States “Painter Laureate.” The artist has the distinct honor of painting the last seven Presidents of the United States and the world’s best loved celebrities, among them the young sensation Taylor Swift. This exhibit features paintings of the magnificent Texas favorites: Flag of Texas, the iconic Dallas Cowboys helmet, the University of Texas Longhorns helmet, Statue of Liberty, Max’s famous “Flag” pieces, “Umbrella Man” and the prestigious 10 Cent Stamp bearing the title “Preserve the Environment”. About Peter Max: The exhibition will present Max’s newest works, and coincides with a donation of Max’s custom Baldwin Baby Grand piano, which was given to Ringo Starr. The piano, which is signed by both Starr and Paul McCartney was auctioned off at this year’s MusicCares dinner honoring Paul McCartney.
Peter painted the piano for Ringo Starr when he visited Peter’s studio a few years ago. Recently, Ringo called Peter to suggest they donate the piano to MusiCares, whose mission is to help musicians in need. The piano sold for $175,000.
